Obama Quest

A New Yorker cartoon. Now that's elitism.
Maybe that is why we thought it was pretty funny. We were actually working on one with John McCain as a manchurian candidate (he did after all spend a lot of time in a communist training camp when he was younger), but our drawing skills were not as good as we thought.

Nixon Bush desperate to stop Obama from reaching JFK-status

"Bush blamed for Merkel opposition to Brandenburg date for Obama" The Independent

However, evidence emerged yesterday which suggested that Ms Merkel could have been pressured into objecting to Mr Obama's plans by the Bush administration. A report in Germany's conservative Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper said that one of Ms Merkel's top advisers had been criticised by a member of the Bush team over the planned Obama visit during the G8 summit in Japan.

"McCain Orders Shake-Up of His Campaign" NY Times

Mr. Schmidt, who is 37, is one of the most intense, hard-driving figures in his party today: when he worked for Mr. Bush, his nickname in the campaign was “The Bullet,” a reference to the shape of his shaved head.

He has been at the center of some of the most politically significant Republican operations of the last 10 years. In working with Mr. Rove and Ken Mehlman, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee, Mr. Schmidt has become immersed in the use of data-driven methods to find and turn out Republican voters.

He also ran the campaign’s war room, which was responsible for capitalizing on mistakes of opponents (nice way of putting it), Mr. McCain’s advisers said that one sign of Mr. Schmidt’s increasing influence in the campaign’s rapid response operation was the quickness with which it seized on a remark by Gen. Wesket J Clark questioning whether Mr. McCain’s years in Vietnam gave him the experience he needed to be president.

"Predicting McCain will attack Obama over public financing, CNN's Crowley did not report that McCain may be breaking the law" Media Matters

Summary: On CNN's American Morning, reporting on Sen. Barack Obama's decision to opt out of public financing for the general election, Candy Crowley asserted that "you can expect that [Sen. John McCain] will hit Obama on two scores: One, you went back on what you said you would do; and two, this is not how to reform Washington." But Crowley did not report that McCain may actually be breaking campaign finance law.

Mmm yummy, a career based on using retarded thoughts religion for political power. Now that's political correctness we know and love.
We are hoping that a Sidney/Jindal-ticket would spend a lot of time exposing kids to other ideas and thoughts.

McCain, Bryan, Carter and "a Google" C&L

Given Bush’s historic unpopularity, the linkage between Bush and McCain is quite damaging for the presumptive Republican nominee. Moreover, Bush’s presidency is fresh in voters’ minds. On the other hand, Carter lost his bid for reelection to the presidency in 1980. That means anyone who was old enough to vote for or against him will be 46 or older by the time this election rolls around.

According to exit polls from 2004, at least 46 percent of the people who voted for president last time around were younger than that. That’s a whole lot of people who might not get the joke as fully as McCain would like.

JUST REMEMBER 1: McCain is getting schooled on veterans issues by all major veterans groups, not just one Illinois Senator. When will Sidney 3.0 start attacking Jim Webb?

JUST REMEMBER 2: Hillary Clinton knows she can't wrap up the nomination before or after the convention. According to the procedures she can get half of the Michigan and Florida delegates before the convention. She then has to get the other half and change the minds of superdelegates who by then will realize that McCain will be the next president of the United States because of her (as parties divided at the convention don't win general elections).
Basically, Hillary Clinton will cost the Democrats the White House in 2008 or Barack Obama will pull off the greatest win in American Political history.
Sorry to say, but Hillary Clinton's place in history, no matter what, will be as the biggest w***ker US politics had to offer.

"Obama would take California in November..." LA Times

The poll appeared to illustrate that Democrats, at least in California, are gravitating toward the candidate who is broadly expected to eventually seize the party's mantle. Obama now runs better against the Arizona senator than does Clinton among many of the groups that powered her victory in the state, among them Latinos, Catholics and those without college degrees.

We all knew it was heading in this direction. Nazi Iran-appeaser "Olivier" North jumps into the tank. C&L

This is the guy who oversaw the arms for hostages deal with Iran in 1985 (among other crimes), right in the middle of the Iran-Iraq war in which the US was actively and openly arming and supporting Saddam Hussein. Ollie North didn’t just talk with Iran at a time they were our enemy in a proxy-war, he actually helped to arm them, bypassing Congress by violating the Boland Amendment to help fund an illegal war in Nicaragua.

"President Bush compares Obama's Iran diplomacy statement to appeasement of Nazis" C&L (video)

During a speech in Jerusalem, President Bush jumped head first into the 2008 presidential campaign by taking a shot at Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama, by comparing his willingness to hold diplomatic talks with Iran to the appeasement of Nazis in the 1930’s.

Then it got ridiculus...

President Bush got it exactly right today when he warned about the threat of Iran and its terrorist proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah. It is imperative that we reject the flawed and naïve thinking that denies or dismisses the words of extremists and terrorists when they shout “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” and that holds that — if only we were to sit down and negotiate with these killers — they would cease to threaten us. It is critical to our national security that our commander-in-chief is able to distinguish between America’s friends and America’s enemies, and not confuse the two.
- Joe Lieberman

Isn't the US (under McCain's Bush's anti-terror leadership) just paying off its enemies in Iraq at the moment? Wouldn't it be cheaper to just skip that?

"Former Democratic leader switches to Obama" MSNBC

Joe Andrew, who was Democratic National Committee chairman from 1999-2001, planned a news conference Thursday in his hometown of Indianapolis to urge other Hoosiers to support Obama in Tuesday’s primary, perhaps the most important contest left in the White House race. He also has written a lengthy letter explaining his decision that he plans to send to other superdelegates.

Andrew said in his letter that he is switching his support because “a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to continue this process, and a vote to continue this process is a vote that assists (Republican) John McCain.”

Myth: This race is tied.
Myth: Okay, the popular vote is tied.
Myth: Fine, but what if we count electoral votes? NOW Hillary is ahead!
Myth: But if we did do it like the Electoral College, that proves Hillary is more electable than Obama, because of states like California.
Myth: Very well, then, Mr. Smarty-Math. But if we counted Michigan and Florida, THEN Hillary would be winning!
Myth: Ah HA! So Dean is keeping them out just to help Obama! And Obama is keeping them out.
Myth: If they don't get seated until the convention but a nominee is selected before these poor people get counted then these states are disenfranchised.
Myth: Well, I say they are disenfranchised, and Hillary Clinton is their champion.
Myth: Well, never mind 2007. She's doing more now to bring them in.
Myth: Whatever! Hillary can still win! I know she can! She and her 37% positive rating will sweep through the remaining primaries and Michigan and Florida, winning 70% of everything and superdelegates will flock to her banner and Barack Obama will personally nominate her at the Convention and John McCain will give up and George Bush will even quit early so she can take over and... and... and... can I have a glass of water?

Obama has captured more state contests, more votes and more of the pledged convention delegates who will help decide which Democrat faces Republican Sen. John McCain in November's presidential election.

But Clinton, a New York senator who has flirted with disaster before in the back-and-forth nominating battle with Obama, shrugs off growing predictions of doom and still sees at least a narrow path to victory.

But journalists need to be careful about cherrypicking and playing up Obama’s name from the barest mention in a trial document or transcript. When the evidence is ambiguous or not relevant to any suggestion of collusion between Obama and Rezko, or when there’s no hint of wrongdoing on Obama’s part, the press needs to frame the revelations soberly, carefully, and accurately.

The sketch, seen below, depicts a 3AM phone call between Senator Clinton and a very inexperienced President Obama, who calls Hillary in the middle of the night for advice on what to do about Iran and how to fix the heating in the White House.
